Deer Park LB Awaiting First Offer

TPI caught up with Deer Park Sr linebacker Nathan Kello to discuss his future as well as his vision for the upcoming sesaon.

Deer Park Sr. Linebacker Nathan Kello, having attended several camps this summer, is anxiously awaiting his contact with some colleges to translate into his first scholarship offer.

Kello camped this summer at Texas A&M, University of Houston, and Sam Houston St."I liked the U of H camp best because they actually broke the linebackers down into the inside and outside positions so we got a little better instruction as outside linebackers"

Kello who is a 6'2 205 lbs. outside linebacker for the Deer and has been timed at 4.6 in the 40, started 9 games his Junior year only missing 2 due to injury. He recorded 48 tackles, had 3 fumble recoveries, 3 sacks, and 2 interceptions. He was also listed as an honorable mention pick on the 22-5A All-District team.

His play has started to catch the attention of several programs."I have received information and had tapes requested from Kansas, Kansas St., Rice, Army, as well as some other smaller schools."

With no current offers on the table, he admittedly has several at the top of his list he would like to hear more from."I would like to hear more from A&M, Kansas, and Kansas St."

The Deer open the 2007 season on August 31st at home against Spring. Kello who has been named a Captain for his team in the upcoming season, has several goals in mind for himself as well as the Deer this year.

"I would like to make 1st team All-District, as well as see us win our district and make a deep run in the playoffs.

Stay tuned to TexasPrepInsider for more on Kello and the Deer in 2007.
