After going numerous winless seasons, the Northbrook football team ended last season with a 2-8 record. With a new coach (Craig Cripps) and a newfound confidence, the Raiders look for nothing but brighter days in their future.

Success for the Raiders starts with offensive skilled players like quarterback Derrick Rainey and Eric Banks. Rainey ended his sophomore season with 557 yards and four touchdowns. Banks also gained a couple hundred yards himself.

Former quarterback Chris Brumfield will go into 2007 at the receiver position and will be Rainey's likely primary target. On the offensive line, Jorge Silbrian and Fernando Medrano are returnees.

On defense, Anthony Flores, Andrew Spencer, and Josue Cedillo will be up front on the trenches. Two-year starter Abraham Olivo is the lone returning linebacker. Defensive backs John Sessions and Matt Ruiz give the Raiders experience in the secondary.

Rainey and Banks both averaged more than 20 yards per kickoff return so they will probably continue being the return men.

With Cripps leading the Raiders, a constant forward push towards a .500 season should only be a few years away. Look for the Northbrook team to give opponents a fight until the end and don't expect for them to be an off week for any team this season.
