The Tigers are still trying to rebound after they lost a great senior class lost a few years ago and installed an all new offense. Coach Konicki strongly feels he has a great chance in the next few years to come back as strong as ever. There is a great bed of young talent that is coming through Klein Collins and he likes his teams chances to compete in this very tough district.
The quarterback position will be handled this season by SR QB Jeremy Traylor. He only started one game last year due to a broken hand, but it was the lone win the Tigers had all year long. He will be backed up by JR QB Ross Peters. The leading rusher last year was SR RB D.J. Bellard and he will be back this year to help move the chains again along with SR RB Derrick Harris. SOPH RB JaMichael Rozier is the son of former Houston Oiler Mike Rozier and Coach Konicki says he will be something special. QB Traylor will have plenty of people to throw to like returning starter SR WR Shayne Brisbane, SR WR Max Miller, JR WR Jordan Taylor, and SR Brian Watts. Also helping on the offensive side of the ball will be a couple of defensive backs in JR DB/WR Ashton McGlory and SR Ivan Henry. The offensive line will be very little known this season but that should change fairly quickly with SR OT Josh Parrish. Coach Konicki says Parrish could the best offensive lineman that he has coached in 20 years. Also along the front line will be SR OL Joseph Ledwig, SR Eric Rodano, SR Brandon Harding, and SR Ryan Thompson.
The defensive backfield will be the strongest group as they are led by 2nd team All-District safety JR DB/WR Ashton McGlory. SR Scott Odom and SR Brandon Barrett will man the other safety position. SR DB/WR Ivan Henry will start at one corner spot as the other will be between JR Larry Cekella and SR Bendon Isenhower. The second line of defense will be in good hands as well as SR LB J.T. Bates returns along with JR LB Jesse Beauchamp. JR LB Nick Darling and JR LB Malcolm Johnson also will contribute. The defensive line will be hurt bad by the dismissal of JR DL Ricky Wagner who was the District Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. There will be plenty of bodies to take their turn on the line and the Tigers need a couple of those to step up and take control. On the ends will be SR DE Jacob Fuller, SR DE Taylor Moses, JR DE/OL Kyle Townsend, and JR DE Austin Howard. JR DT Andy Polk and JR DT Joey Magnesio will handle the middle.
The Tigers will need a lot of things to happen this season to make a run at the playoffs or even get close enough to even sniff it. Unfortunately for Klein Collins fans it probably will not happen this year, but don't get yours hopes down Tiger fans. The horizon looks very good for the Tigers as they do have a lot of young talent coming up and last seasons 1-9 record should be a great reminder to help this years Klein Collins team surpass that win total.
