Roosevelt had a break through year last season. Roosevelt, a school with significant talent, put it all together even though they did lose in bi-district last season. This year, they return one of the best players in 3A in Vincent McNeil to help complement their attack.
McNeil is an all everything player on the offense. He earned all district honors as a wide receiver, but he played quarterback and receiver last season as well, so the transition should not be too intense. Replacing Danny Hogan as a complement will be tough. Roosevelt has a sizeable, but not a physical line. Demond Lane leads the offense.
The defense will be weaker this season than last year - as 10 of the seniors graduated. The defensive line is solid, and Lane could play both ways. The secondary will be fast and speedy led by Quintell Solomon. Outside of Solomon, the defense has a lot of question marks, although there are some good young linebackers that will be on varsity.
Overall Roosevelt will be down - they were a mainstay in the top ten last season, but Little Matt, 3A guru of 3A gurus thinks they are more of a 15th ranked team which puts them second in district. Madison will be extremely down, so Roosevelt, if it can upset Lake Worth, may get an outright district championship this year!
