Pinkston and Seagoville have developed a nice little rivalry over the past couple of years. Two years ago, Pinkston had a solid class and ended up making the playoffs over Seagoville. Seagoville returned the favor the past couple of years. This season, Pinkston returns 8 starters including one of the best players in the district.
Anthony Higgins is one of the best athletes on Pinkston and will take over at quarterback. Nathan Sowells may be used at running back or at receiver, and sophomore Aaron Spikes has looked solid at running back in early 2 a day practices and may make his way as a starter. There will be some questions on the offensive line this season.
The defensive end will be led by Shonquille Dorsey. He has great size and speed and will be a quick weakside rusher. The linebacker crew will be solid led by DeMario Powell, Shaheem Jones and J'horee Smith. Nathan Sowels may end up playing centerfield for Pinkston as the top player in the secondary.
Pinkston has a great chance to compete with Seagoville for the third playoff spot - especially with the loss of Troy Stoudermire. I think they will still need to do some work to usurp Seagoville, but they certainly have closed the gap unintentionally with the loss of Stoudermire. Overall, they are a solid fourth place team.
