Michigan commit plays big in season opener

Dulles WR Darryl Stonum is one of the nation's top committed recruits. He started his senior season against Katy Mayde Creek Saturday night. TPI had a chance to check out the future Wolverine.

Four-star athlete and Fort Bend Dulles wide receiver Daryl Stonum began his senior season with a strong showing on the field. Despite a 28-21 loss to Katy Mayde Creek, Stonum made plenty of plays from his wide out position.

Stonum, a Michigan commit, ended the game with eight receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. On his touchdown pass he split two defenders and made a tough catch look easy. Stonum also picked up about 40 yards on special teams.

It appeared that he got a little banged up after laying out for a pass out of the back of the end zone and landing on the concrete. Either way, he looked just as good or better than he did last season.

Stonum is still a big time playmaker who can make big plays at any given time.
