Rams DB holds one offer, waiting for more

Cy Ridge DB Royce Hill has been going hard on the gridiron for several years now. He bounced back from injury last year, and still managed to get the statistics needed to pull a Division I offer. But since that time, he still only holds one. TPI caught up with Hill after a big win in Week 0.

When it comes to playing defensive back, Cy Ridge's Royce Hill knows the game. Going into his third year as a starter for the Rams, Hill has steadily been working hard to gain the attention of Division I scouts. Right now, he holds an offer from Rice

But the 5-11, 170-pound Hill is hoping to turn some of his interest into offers.

"I have one scholarship offer from Rice," Hill said. "But here recently, Northwestern called."

When asked about favorites, Hill mentioned Rice, but also a school that is known for being a Big 12 powerhouse.

"I would have to say Rice and (Texas) A&M are my favorites," Hill said.

As far as Rice is concerned, Hill said he has visited the campus on two different occasions. He spoke briefly on the perks of becoming an Owl team member.

"I got a chance to meet all of the coaches at Rice," Hill said. "It is close to home and if I went there, I may get some playing time soon."

He also took a trip to Aggie land and was equally, if not more impressed.

"I went there for a visit and met the players and the coaches," Hill said. "I got a chance to see the campus and watch practice. With them (A&M), I like the tradition of being a part of a winning program. It is a good team to play for."

In Cy Ridge's opening game, the Rams beat Katy Cinco Ranch 41-21. Hill recorded a tackle, 2 BPUs, and had a 45-yard kickoff return and a punt return for 15 yards
