TPI District 17-5A: Week Two Preview (FREE)

Week 1 was a wild week of upsets across the city, and now we cruise into Week 2 with some great match ups. Thursday is Strake Jesuit and Cinco Ranch. Friday's games are Cy Fair/Alief Taylor, Cy Creek/Tomball, Cy Ridge/Magnolia, Cy Falls/Katy Taylor, and Jersey Village/Humble. On Saturday, Langham Creek and Morton Ranch will face off. Cy Springs has a bye week.

Cy Fair vs. Alief Taylor: Cy Fair is coming off a Week 1 win over Klein Collins and once again RB Wesley Cobb had a strong showing. On defense, the Bobcats have to face a solid athlete in Taylor's Donte Elliott. I don't see this being a high-scoring game, but I like the Bobcats in this one. Cy Fair by 14.

Cy Ridge vs. Magnolia: Cy Ridge will host Magnolia this week and I see the Rams coming out hard to make a statement after last week's results against Klein. Look for Cy Ridge to score plenty of points in this one. Cy Ridge by 28.

Langham Creek vs. Katy Morton Ranch: The Lobos are hot right now scoring 30+plus points in two games. They are led by QB Max Jenkins who is effective by ground or air. Langham Creek has dominated opponents each week and this one will be no different. Langham Creek by 21.

Jersey Village vs. Humble: It seems like the Falcons are struggling these days, but they may bounce back by district. They travel to play an Humble team that is coming off a bye week and well rested. I don't expect a lot of scores, but I see the Wildcats taking this one. Humble by 14.

Strake Jesuit vs. Katy Cinco Ranch: Both the Crusaders and Cougars come off Week 1 wins. I like the quarterback match up in this game (Jeff McVaney, Strake Jesuit-Shane Ros, Cinco Ranch) and I think both will show up for the challenge. But this match will come down to defense and I'm going with the Cougars. Cinco Ranch by 7.

Cy Falls vs. Katy Taylor: The Cy Falls team has that never say die attitude and it showed during the Westfield game. With QB Kolby Gray back in the rotation along with RB Shane Turner, the Golden Eagles should easily soar to victory. Cy Falls by 21.

Cy Creek vs. Tomball: Cy Creek found its first win against Spring Woods and now the Cougars travel to Tomball. QB Jacob Thompson will have a big game and the Cougars will likely head into their bye week 2-1. Cy Creek by 21.
