Cy Falls DB plays big while waiting on offer

Cy Falls DB Xavier Witchett has started his senior season making play-after-play to gain the attention of Division I coaches. And with the statistics complied in his first three games, the interest should build up. TPI caught up with the Golden Eagles' Witchett to see how things are going in recruiting.

Now that he is in a full-time capacity on the Golden Eagles defense, Cy Falls defensive back Xavier Witchett is ready to make the most of this season. With that said, he must play every game as if it were a highlight reel. And he has done exactly that.

But rest assured, he wants to play college ball. At the moment, the 6-1, 180-pound Witchett does not have any offers, but does have some interested college programs.

"I am just looking to play at the next level and I really don't care where," Witchett said. "I have some interest coming from Kansas, Notre Dame, TCU, LSU, and Oregon."

Of the schools listed, he said his favorites were Kansas, TCU, and Oregon.

Take on Kansas: "I like the program and I have a friend (Former Klein Forest WR John Wilson) playing up there," Witchett said. "He tells me about the school."

Take on TCU: "I was talking with my coach and he said that they (Horned Frogs) play the same type of defense that we do," Witchett said. "If I have the chance to go there I'll have some idea of what I am doing."

Take on Oregon: "I really like their playing style and program," Witchett said.

In three games, Witchett has three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and is averaging about 10 tackles a game.
