Kempner DB excited about first official visit

Kempner defensive back Chris Banjo has been waiting for good news from a particular school. And here recently, he got the call to come down for an official visit. On top of that, more schools have been contacting him. Banjo contacted TPI by phone to give us the updates in recruiting.

Fort Bend Kempner defensive back Chris Banjo received some exciting news recently about a school he is very interested in. The 5-11, 190-pound Banjo has a date set for his first official visit.

"I have a visit set to go to Boise State on October 6," Banjo said. "I have been waiting on this for some time and I can't wait to go there."

Banjo, who also has offers from both UTEP and Navy, expressed how this offer from the Broncos really means a lot. He enjoys talking with the coaches (coach Jeff Choate) and overall just likes the program, especially after last year.

"Many do not know that they (Boise State) has the highest winning percentage in the last seven years," Banjo said. "Nobody thought they would have had the kind of success they have had. I always liked the school, but after the game against Oklahoma, I fell in love with Boise State."

As Banjo continues to blaze the hectic recruiting trail, Boise State is not the only school in constant contact with him. Basically, his phone has been ringing frequently.

With this said, he feels like he will pull in a couple more offers soon.

"Northwestern and New Mexico have been calling me quite a bit," Banjo said. "I really feel like they are close to offering because they call me weekly."

Aside from all of this, Banjo and the Kempner team celebrated their first win over Fort Bend Willowridge this past week 17-14. Banjo had eight tackles and two fumble recoveries.

So as Banjo gets ready for the long-awaited official visit, one may ask the question: If they offer, will you commit?

"I would like to, but I will want to talk it over with my parents first," Banjo said.
