Katy MLB favors a couple of Texas colleges

After LB Blaine Adkins moved to Katy from Burnet, the talented athlete still had big dreams of playing Division I football. He earned a starting position and now looks to gain the attention of college coaches. TPI caught up with Adkins in Week 5 to get this recruiting update.

Katy linebacker Blaine Adkins is part of one of the nation's best high school football programs. Now that he is member of the Tiger organization, he is working hard week in and week out to take his game play to the collegiate level.

Though he sits without an offer, the 6-0, 215-pound Adkins has interest and a few favorites.

"Right now I am hearing from Houston, Air Force, and Baylor," Adkins said. "I get a few things from Texas A&M and also a Division II school, Truman State."

At the moment, Adkins' favorites are Houston and Texas Tech

"I like the linebackers coach a lot," Adkins said of Houston. "It is close to my home and family and I like that. As far as Texas Tech, my sister went there and I really like the campus and atmosphere."

Adkins and the Katy team are 4-0 and the Tiger defense has given up less than a touchdown a game. He is averaging about 8 tackles a game and looks for his team to continue its dominance.

But when it comes to college recruiting, Adkins only has one concern.

"All I expect is to get an offer from somewhere I would like to go," Adkins said. "Hopefully I can go Division I and get a free education and the chance to pursue college football."
