Everman Has No Trouble With Mineral Wells

Everman didn't take long to jump out to a big lead over Mineral Wells and the Bulldogs cruised to a 43-13 win over the Rams.

EVERMAN- The Everman Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0) jumped out to a big lead at halftime and rolled to their 13th win in their past 14 games with a 43-13 win over the Mineral Wells Rams (1-5, 0-3) Friday night on homecoming at Marr Stadium. Everman "only" ran for 243 yards which is a season low, but QB Sedrick Harris threw for a season high 157 yards to give the ‘Dawgs some much needed balance.

After stopping the Rams on their first possession, Everman was able to move the ball down the field through the air for the most part and Sedrick Harris would cap the drive with a 9 yard run. Ryan Smith would add a two point conversion on a swinging gate to make it 8-0 Bulldogs. Mineral Wells would then fumble on their next possession as Jeff Smith fumbled a reverse pitch and Everman DL Jerrell Jones would recover the fumble at the MWHS 12. Everman would take advantage of the mistake as after a holding call Harris would score his second touchdown of the game from 22 yards out and Andrew Camacho's PAT was true and it was 15-0 Everman. Mineral Wells would catch a break late in the quarter as DB Brandon Hardeman would snuff out an Everman drive by picking Harris off and returning the turnover to the 22. Everman's defense would get the ball right back as Darius Busby nailed MWHS QB Joel Meza and forced him to fumble and Jerrell Jones recovered his second fumble of the game. The Bulldogs would capitalize on the turnover as Devin Woods would score on a 5 yard run to make it 22-0. Cody Cates would give the Rams some life as he returned the ensuing kickoff 54 yards down to the Everman 34. Mineral Wells would get on the board as Justin Peterson would catch a 10 yard touchdown pass from Joel Meza on a fourth and goal to make it 22-7 Everman as Jacob Holle's PAT was good. Everman would respond right before the half as Clarence Jennings would score from a yard out on fourth and goal to make it 28-7. The snap on the PAT was low, but Everman backup QB Chaz Birdine would hit DeJuan Lee for the two point conversion to make it 30-7 Everman heading into the locker room.

Everman's offense wouldn't get on the board until late in the third quarter as Harris hooked up with Chris Franklin for a 27 yard touchdown pass to put EHS up 37-7. After recovering a Mineral Wells fumble, Everman's offense would tack on a 5 yard run by Devin Woods to make it 43-7 Everman as the PAT was no good. Mineral Wells would gain some momentum early in the fourth quarter as Chelton Gonzales would score on a 6 yard run to make it 43-13 Everman as the PAT try was blocked.
