TPI District 17-5A: Week Eight Preview

Week 8 is usually the week when the playoff picture begins to take shape. Here are the line-ups for this week. Cy Ridge will take on Jersey Village, Cy Fair will battle Cy Springs, Strake Jesuit plays Cy Creek, and Langham Creek will play Cy Falls. TPI will break down each of these match ups.

Cy Ridge vs. Jersey Village: Cy Ridge continues to dominate opponents and this week should be no different. RB Hasan Lipscomb had a big game last week and I see him doing it again. The Rams defense should do well in this one also. This one may be a blowout. Cy Ridge by 24.

Cy Fair vs. Cy Springs: Cy Fair is the likely favorite in this one and for good reason. They just have too many offensive weapons with RBs Sam McGuffie and Wesley Cobb. On defense, LB Daniel Moose makes plenty of plays. Fort Cy Springs, RB Darrell Lea will likely have some success, but not enough to pull off an upset. Cy Fair by 14.

Strake Jesuit vs. Cy Creek: The Crusaders will have another chance to test their strong defense with the balanced game of Cy Creek. QB Jacob Thompson can do just about anything and has quite a few weapons around him. This game may be closer than expected. Strake Jesuit QB Jeff McVaney has been pretty solid all season and I see him having a big game. And look for his defense to back him up. Starke Jesuit by 14.

Langham Creek vs. Cy Falls: If you haven't noticed by now, Cy Falls is a scoring machine. With QB Kolby Gray, RB Shane Turner, and an arsenal of solid wide receivers, this team is hard to outscore. I look for the Lobos, led by QB Max Jenkins, to come out hard, but there is just too much team speed on the Golden Eagles' sidelines. Cy Falls by 21.
