Pearland WR picking up interest

Pearland WR Kevin Miller has exploded on the scene this year proving to be one of Houston top possession receivers. In an offense known for its ability to run the football, Miller has the numbers to start getting looks from some college recruiters. TPI had the chance to talk with Miller about what is going on in recruiting.

When many think of Pearland High School, they think about a hard-core ground game with tough running backs in the backfield. That is still the case but the Oilers have began to open the offense some and that is where junior wide receiver Kevin Miller comes in.

In the passing game, Miller is the go-to guy. The 6-1, 170-pound Miller has the numbers and now Division I colleges have started to notice.

"I have interest coming from North Carolina, Houston, Vanderbilt, Connecticut, and Purdue," Miller said.

At the moment, Miller didn't name a favorite, but looks forward to doing some visiting and camps in 2008. On the season, Miller has 33 receptions for 443 yards and two touchdowns.

With the Oiler team sitting in first place and a secure playoff spot, Miller looks to continue making plays to aid in the team's success. After falling one game short of the state championship, Miller hopes to make that leap in 2007.

"I think we (the team) is doing a good job this year," Miller said. "I hope we can go far in the playoffs and make it one step closer."

Miller and the Pearland team will finish off the regular season against Clear Brook this Friday.
