TPI's Week 9 Top Performers: 17-5A

With all the football action going on all across the state, TPI's Ahmard Vital will highlight some of the top player performances from Week 9 in the District of 17-5A.

QB Jacob Thompson, Cy Creek
Even with a performance that will probably not be duplicated all season, Thompson's big plays are worthy of TPI's top list. Through the air, he completed 22-of-43 for 394 yards and five touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for another 206 yards and four touchdowns. Despite a nine-touchdown performance, the Cougars fell to Cy Fair 63-62.

RBs Hasan Lipscomb and Kyle Hamilton, Cy Ridge
Despite only having the ball a total of 26 times the entire game, The Rams' running game was on point in a 49-22 win over Strake Jesuit. Lipscomb ended with a 181 yards and three touchdowns while Hamilton had four carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. These totals were in addition to Russell Shepard's 123-yard/two-touchdown performance that helped the Rams to over 400 yards of total offense.

QB Kolby Gray, Cy Falls
Just save Gray a permanent spot on TPI's top list because he continues to turn in the big numbers. In a 48-28 win over Jersey Village, Gray completed 22-of-39 for 370 yards and four touchdowns and one interception. He also had 32 yards on the ground.

RB Sam McGuffie, Cy Fair

QB Jeff McVaney, Strake Jesuit
McVaney should get the iron man award for his game play against Cy Ridge. Despite the outcome (49-22 Cy Ridge), McVaney was 17-of-37 for 198 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was impressive on the ground gaining 140 tough yards and a touchdown.
