Cy Ridge RB favors LSU

Cy Ridge RB Hasan Lipscomb is one of Houston's premier backs from the Class of 2009 and has the statistics to prove it. After a solid sophomore season and a strong one so far as a junior, he has hit the radar of several college coaches. TPI caught up with Lipscomb to get this recruiting update.

One of the integral parts of Cy Ridge High School's loaded backfield is running back Hasan Lipscomb, who is on track for a huge junior season. After rushing for 806 yards as a sophomore and a junior campaign where he has already broken the 1,000-yard mark, Lipscomb has the attention of several Division I coaches.

"I am getting plenty of letters from Iowa, LSU, Houston, Oklahoma State, and a few others that I can't think of," the 5-11, 200-pound Lipscomb said. "I have actually met with coaches from LSU, UH, and Iowa. A Houston coach said he likes what I am doing and said he would keep an eye on me."

According to Lipscomb LSU, Houston, and Iowa are showing the strongest interest. But right now, he has a school that he most interested in.

"My main interest is with LSU," Lipscomb said. "I'm from New Orleans and have been a Tiger fan for a long time. I grew watching them and always wanted to be part of their program."

After leaving Louisiana because of Hurricane Katrina, Lipscomb found a home at Cy Ridge. Since then he has put up numbers that are attracting college coaches across the nation.

Right now Lipscomb has 1,152 yards and 20 touchdowns. Even though these numbers are impressive, he looks to improve his game to become an all-purpose back.

"A lot of teams have a couple of backs who can do certain things," Lipscomb said. "I am a hard worker with speed and power, but I want to become a complete back who can do whatever needed for the team. I can't say I have it all, but I am a working progress."

Lipscomb and the Cy Ridge team face Cy Fair Saturday. With a win, they will be the out-right champions of District 17-5A.
