Booker T. Washington WR Darius Austin has been working the recruiting process diligently his entire high school career. With interest coming from schools across the country, Austin has decided he is ready to give his verbal commitment this week. TPI brings you the latest on Austin's recruitment.

With the Texas playoffs beginning this week, Booker T. Washington wide receiver Darius Austin is excited that his high school career is not coming to a close. Aside from this, Austin has made the decision to give his verbal commitment this week.

"I talked with my dad a lot and I have decided to commit this week," the 5-9, 170-pound Austin said. "The school I will choose, I like everything about them. When it came down to it, I did not want to go to a school that is in the Top 25. "

Austin has seen interest from schools like SMU, North Texas, TCU, UTEP, Texas A&M, and Louisiana-Lafayette. But this week, Austin's choice is to go somewhere where he can be an "impact" player.

"I look to go in and red shirt my first year," Austin said. "Then I want come in and make an impact as an athlete. I want to be with a program that is on the rise and be a part of a new tradition."

So far this season, Austin has 17 catches and a touchdown. As a junior, he had 35 catches for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns. In last week's game against Houston Austin, he scored the opening touchdown on a 97-kickoff return.

He and the War Eagle team are preparing for a bi-district match up against Houston Jones. Stay tuned to Texasprepinsider.com as we bring you Austin's commitment this week.
