McGinty still waiting on first offer

North Shore QB Jeremiah McGinty is one of Greater Houston's top athletes. But even with the good numbers, McGinty has not seen the Division I interest he hoped for. With his team making the strong push to the state game in San Antonio, McGinty will continue to lead while trying to gain more exposure to college recruiters. TPI caught up with the senior quarterback for this recruiting update.

Despite the fact that North Shore quarterback Jeremiah McGinty has put up pretty good numbers for the second year in a row, he has yet to receive that Division I offer that he is still waiting for. Right now he and the Mustang team are pushing on in the Texas Region III playoffs and that is the primary focus.

But, he would love to see more interest come his way.

"I do not have an offer right now, but TCU, Rice, and Air Force are recruiting me," McGinty said. "I talk with TCU and Rice a lot."

The 6-1, 190-pound McGinty did not name a favorite and is open to any and all interest. He recently attended a football game in Dallas to check out the Horned Frogs.

"I went to the TCU/New Mexico game about three weeks ago," McGinty said. "It went pretty good and I talked to a couple of coaches. I am really not sure if they are going to offer me."

With Rice, McGinty has not made the trip to the Owl facilities yet, but still keeps in touch with them. On the season McGinty has thrown for 1,893 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has rushed for 550 yards and 13 touchdowns through 12 games.

McGinty said that once the season is over he will look to make a few more visits, but he is not sure where.

"I'll visit whatever school is interested in me," McGinty said. "I want to go somewhere where I can play. I have no leeway towards any schools."

The North Shore football team will take on Cy-Fair this Friday at the Berry Center in a playoff match up.
