Thomas talks Stanford visit, decision soon

With the season over, Aldine Nimitz ATH Michael Thomas has been making headway in his recruiting options. He holds more than 20 offers and is one of Texas' top athletes. Thomas just got back to Houston from the state of California on an official visit. TPI caught up with Thomas to talk about the visit.

With multiple college offers in hand, four-star athlete Michael Thomas from Aldine Nimitz (Texas) has plenty of options when it comes to recruiting. Even more so, Thomas had to narrow his choices down to seven, and here recently, down to three.

"My list is down to Northwestern, Stanford, and Iowa State," Thomas said.

Other schools that were in his Top 7 include: Nebraska, Boise State, Missouri, and Arizona State. The 5-10, 182-pound athlete has already taken visits to Northwestern, California, Baylor, Stanford, Iowa State, and Rice. Some were official and others were unofficial.

But, this past weekend, he took an official visit to the Cardinal program and had this to report.

"It was great and was much better than the first time I went down there," Thomas said of the Stanford trip. "I got off the plane and the weather was beautiful and once I got to campus, everyone was waiting for me. The campus was fired up for the game against California. I know this school is known for prestige and academics, but everyone was hype, even the professors."

Thomas said the game was a great experience. Not only did the Cardinals with the game 20-13, Thomas was able to be a part of the huge rush of students who ran out onto the field when the game was over.

"It was the last big defensive play to seal the win," Thomas said. "Everyone ran out to the field and I was in the middle of it. I even got to touch the axe."

This past season, Thomas generated over 900 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. During his junior campaign, he had 1,000 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. With plenty of visits under his belt, Thomas looks to commit soon.

"I have narrowed it down and I am ready to commit," Thomas said. "I feel very confident in my future decision."
