Paige pulls in first offer

Langham Creek ATH Cortez Paige had a huge senior year for the Lobo team. But big numbers did not pull in the interest that Paige was expecting. But lately things have changed and he pulled in offer No. 1. Paige talked with TPI about receiving his first offer.

Greater Houston is full of top athletes who are uncommitted. Even more so, there are several who have not pull in their first offer. But for Langham Creek athlete Cortez Paige, that changed here recently.

Paige received an important call from a Southland Conference school that offered him the opportunity to play football.

"I got an offer from Northwestern Louisiana State recently," the 6-0, 185-pound Paige said. "I have been waiting on one for a long time now and I was wondering if I would ever get one. We they called it was a relief."

Outside of this offer, Paige is receiving interest from a few other lower division schools like Abilene Christian and Blinn (junior college). But as far as Division I looks, Paige has been on the horn with Tulsa quite a bit lately.

With that said, he named Tulsa as his favorite.

"I really want to go to Tulsa," Paige said. "I went there this past year for a camp and liked it a lot. The coaches are cool and they work with you real good. They are doing a lot of things with the stadium and it seems like everything is getting better."

Paige feels like he would be a good fit for the Golden Hurricane program with his athleticism. Either way, whatever team lands Paige will get an all-around athlete.

Defensively, he finished the year with 83 tackles, five pass break-ups, and six interceptions. On offense, Paige had 39 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns. He even averaged 21 yards on kickoff return with one touchdown.
