Hernandez Leads the Newman Smith Line

Newman Smith High School in Carrollton has several potential Division 1 recruits should be much improved in 2008 and OG David Hernandez is one of the main targets for recruiters. Hernandez who is 6'2 275 pounds boasts a 305 pound bench press max and a 455 squat max. David has earned second team all 6-5A honors the past two seasons for the Trojans.

Besides being a key member of the Newman Smith offensive line Hernandez is a member of the Trojans track team where he throws the shot put and discuss and he is on the powerlifting team.

As things stand right now David says Duke, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin are interested in his services with Wisconsin holding a slight early lead. "I am not sure which camps I'll be making this summer but I plan on making one or two summer camps," said Hernandez.

The Newman Smith Class of 2009 prospect lists campus atmosphere and academics as two major factors in determining where exactly he winds up at, "I am looking to major in either Architecture or Business and I'd like to go to a school where there is a strong relationship between me and the coaching staff," replied Hernandez.

David says he'll likley decide on his college choice after his senior season, but he's got some lofty goals for 2008. "I'd like to make a playoff push this year and personally I am looking for all area and maybe all state."
