Carrier's stock rising daily

It seems like the Pearland football program just keeps producing top running backs, and this year was no different. Scout.com Texas Top 100 RB Kasey Carrier is a player to watch and college coaches are pursuing him heavily. Here recently, TexasPrepInsider had the chance to speak with Carrier to get this recruiting update.

Recruiting for the Class of 2009 is in full swing and college coaches have already began handing out scholarship offers for many of the nations top players. One player who is anticipating a big recruiting season is Pearland running back Kasey Carrier.

After posting big numbers as a junior, Carrier's recruitment has picked up quite a bit.

"I don't have an offer right now, but things are going pretty good," Carrier said. "I have a lot of schools showing me interest and I have some junior days I will go to here soon."

And the 5-foot-8, 175-pound Carrier has a full schedule lined up. He has already been to Houston, but said he will also go to junior days at Texas Tech and North Texas. Both have been showing the most interest, according to Carrier.

He also said some interest has been coming from Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. But at the moment, no school stands out.

"Right now I don't have a favorite," Carrier said. "I just want to go somewhere where I see the most interest."

Carrier explained what he is most looking for in a program.

"I am looking for a program that runs an open offense," Carrier said. "I want a program that likes to run and gun and wants a shifty back."

In a 12-game season, Carrier had 1,707 yards and 20 touchdowns. He plans to attend various camps and combines this off-season.
