Karam ready for busy off-season, has offers

The Class of 2009 is clearly not lacking at the quarterback position and Friendswood's Jacob Karam is one the state's best. After a solid junior season, Karam has nationwide interest and a couple of offers to go with it. TexasPrepInsider has the update on Karam's recruitment.

In a class loaded with top-rated quarterbacks, Friendswood (TX) quarterback Jacob Karam feels like he is in a good place with his recruitment. Now that the 6-foor-2, 203-pound Karam has a couple offers under his belt, his confidence level has risen tremendously as he waits for more to come.

"I am very proud and blessed that I have offers from Houston and Stanford," Karam said. "These offers are motivation to work even harder so that I can get more. I feel like this is a reward for all of the hard work I put in."

To go along with the offers comes a long list of junior days approaching. He said he is for sure going to Texas Tech, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Louisville's junior days. He has also been invited to LSU and Mississippi State

After a solid junior season, Karam looks to head up to these colleges to get better acquainted.

"All of these schools are recruiting me so I want go and learn more about the schools," Karam said. "I want to find out if it a good fit for me and for them. It needs to be somewhere where I could see myself going there with or without football."

Karam explained that while looking for the right fit, being in state is not necessarily what he is looking for. But, he wants the school to be fairly close.

"It (the school) does not have to be in state, but I am a big family-oriented guy so I want my family to be fairly close," Karam said.

Karam said he plans to commit before the 2008 season so that he can focus on leading his team to a district championship. Last season, Karam threw for 1,951 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also had five rushing touchdowns.
