Yates DT gets first offer

He has been patiently waiting on this day to come. And today, Houston Yates DT Darryl Jackson got the news he has been waiting on for some time. The offer came as a surprise, but he said he would take it as it comes. Who did the offer come from? TexasPrepInsider has the scoop on Jackson's first offer.

When TexasPrepInsider contacted Houston (TX) Yates defensive tackle Darryl Jackson just two days ago, he was kind of in limbo wondering when his first offer would come. But late this afternoon, he received some good news.

"I was at home doing my homework and my auntie came in with the mail," Jackson said. "I got a letter from Houston offering me a full scholarship. It feels good and I am so excited right now."

Other than Houston, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound Jackson is also hearing from Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, and Kansas. He said that right now that the in-state schools are his leaders.

He gave a detailed reason why these two programs stand out amongst the rest.

"I like the environment of a program coming in with new coaches," Jackson said. "I can see that both coaches (Houston's Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M's Mike Sherman) are coming in and want to win. They also seem to treat their players well."

Jackson has already attended junior days at both of these schools. He said he plans to visit several universities during the off-season and evaluate each school very close.
