White who sports a 30 inch vertical leap and a 265 pound bench press max notched 83 tackles and 2 INT's as a junior for SGHS earning honorable mention all 10-5A honors in helping South Garland post a 10-2 record last year.
Jamal along with his prowess on the football field is also a member of the South Garland track team where he specializes in the 400 and 4x400 relay. "I think my biggest strength is that I am a sure tackler and I have pretty good hands for a defensive back," replied White when asked about his strengths.
As things stand right now Jamal doesn't have any favorites but he does boast an offer from Kansas and his top five also includes Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and SMU. This summer look for the South Garland star in camps at SMU and Texas Tech in addition to playing in seven on seven where he'll try to lead the Colonels back to the State Tournament at Texas A&M in July as in 2007 SGHS made a strong run.
White says academics will play a big role in where he lands, as he plans on majoring in Law Enforcement. However a final decision on where he'll land likely won't come until after the 2008 season, "I want to take my time and really make the best choice for my future," says the South Garland safety who has winning the all-Garland district as a top goal this year. "I want to help the team first win district and then make a long playoff run."
