Rockwall SQT Picks and Preview breaks down 7 on 7 like no one else!! Check out this week's preview of the Rockwall SQT! Matt Stepp and Matt Diggs rate, debate and pick the qualifiers!

Rockwall will host another of the last chance qualifiers in the state this weekend. The SQT will take place at three different locations. Pool A and B will take place at Rockwall HS, while Pool C will be played at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium. Pool D will be at HBJ Stadium in nearby Garland. Two spots in the 7 on 7 State Tournament at Texas A&M are on the line.

Forney- FHS made a surprising run to the State Tournament last year at Tyler Lee's SQT but last week in their return trip to Tyler, the Jackrabbits didn't fare so well. Forney failed to advance out of pool play which included an embarrassing loss to Whitehouse's JV team. I don't expect Forney to advance out of a tough pool featuring two very athletic teams.

South Garland- The Colonels fared well in their SQT debut a few weeks back at SMU, posting a 2-1 record before a stunning loss to Sherman in the final minutes. SGHS has some questions at QB but they are loaded at the skill spots with DB's Denzel Davis and Jamal White and a big time WR in Michael Thomas. SGHS will contend to win this pool.

Plano- We aren't too sure if Plano will bring all their big guns to Rockwall this week, and my guess is they let some young kids get some work in this week in a tough pool. However even though PSH has qualified and even though they might bring youngsters this week, the Wildcats are winners and they won't be anyone's pushover.

DeSoto- The Eagles on May 31 made their SQT debut and very nearly qualified for the State Tournament losing to Plano West in an exciting semi-final game. DeSoto has one of the best young QB's in the state in Ryan Polite and they've got major skill talent in RB Marcus Murphy, WR Darius Terrell and DB Adrian White. Their skill talent is equal to South Garland with a better QB I'll take DeSoto to win the pool.

Little Matt's Pick: DeSoto

Big Matt's Pick: DeSoto

Garland Naaman Forest- The Rangers with their full compliment of players won a tough pool last week at Mesquite and then knocked off North Mesquite in the semi-finals to clinch a spot in the State Tournament. NFHS might bring some of their better players to this SQT despite qualifying just to make sure they are in shape for Texas A&M.

Carrollton Turner- The Lions are playing in their first ever SQT this weekend, and they are likely going to have a tough time in a difficult pool. RB/DB Charles Moore is RL Turner's top player but other than Moore the Lions lack talent and simply getting one win will be a lot to ask.

Sulphur Springs- The Wildcats advanced to their first State Tournament since 2004 led by sensational QB Tyrik Rollison leads the Wildcats offense that is very potent. SSHS also has a good group of WR's and a solid RB in Ryan Young who can catch the ball also, there are questions in the secondary.

Rockwall- The Yellow Jackets have gotten close to qualifying for the State Tournament several times but they've fallen just short each time. Look for RHS to come out strong this week and win the games they need to win to get out of pool play.

Little Matt's Pick: Rockwall

Big Matt's Pick: Rockwall

Royse City- Royse City will be playing in their first and only SQT this week and led by Arizona bound QB Richard Morrison, the Bulldogs have a chance to beat anyone. RCHS however lacks the talent at the other skill positions to make an impact especially in a brutal pool.

Dallas Skyline- The Raiders were very impressive in their lone SQT of the year May 31 at Plano. SHS has major athletes across the board and if QB Chris Frazier who has committed to SMU plays well, Skyline can qualify for the State Tournament. DB Steve Williams leads a strong secondary and Kerry Nation is a tremendous second option. I'll take Skyline as a slight favorite to win the pool.

Tyler Lee- The Red Raiders qualified for the State Tournament two weeks ago at A&M Consolidated, and they have gone an impressive 8-0 in their two tournaments. However the competition in this pool will be much tougher than the Red Raiders have seen and I expect them to take their first loss in SQT play this week.

Garland- The Owls were tremendously impressive in the Mesquite SQT last week, losing only to eventual champion Mesquite High. Garland didn't even have their full compliment of players as they were missing WR Keith Blanton and DB Steven Baker, if those two are in the fold this week watch out for Garland!

Little Matt's Pick: Dallas Skyline

Big Matt's Pick: Garland

Mabank- Despite on paper not being nearly as talented as other teams last week, the Panthers managed to win their pool but fell to a very strong Mesquite squad. MHS last qualified for the Division 1 State Tournament in 2005 and it was at Rockwall. With QB Kolton Browning in the fold, anything can happen and if he gets on a roll MHS can score some serious points.

Rowlett- Rowlett faced Mabank in pool play earlier in the summer at Plano and fell to Panthers in a close game and I believe the pool will come down to those two. The Eagles have a speed advantage especially with state champion sprinter Marquise Goodwin at WR. DB Dexter Imade is also a major weapon for RHS.

Garland Lakeview Centennial- The Patriots have struggled in two SQTs this year and I don't think they have much hope to fare better this week. DB Augustine Ume-Ezeoke leads the Patriots who did qualify for the State Tournament in 2007 but it'll take some major upsets for the feat to be repeated.

Coppell- This is the final tuneup for Coppell before the State Tournament, I expect CHS will bring a strong squad to this SQT after basically taking the last two SQTs off. RB Evans Okatcha and TE Tony Trahan lead the offense but keep an eye on young WR Jaxson Shipley.

Little Matt's Pick: Mabank

Big Matt's Pick: Mabank

Little Matt's Picks: DeSoto over Rockwall and Dallas Skyline over Mabank

Big Matt's Pick: Rockwall over DeSoto and Garland over Mabank
