POOL I

Edcouch-Elsa

Georgetown

The Woodlands

Wylie

Defending champion Georgetown stands out in this pool, but this is another group that 1-4 is very tough. Edcouch-Elsa is the early favorite as they have blitzed through all comers this summer. Wylie is one of the top offensive teams in the state in 7 on 7 and they'll be a tough out. The Woodlands is being overlooked but with the talent the Highlanders bring to the table they could be the ones to advance to the Championship bracket.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Edcouch-Elsa, The Woodlands, Wylie, Georgetown

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Wylie, Edcouch-Elsa, Georgetown, The Woodlands

Alan's Pool Picks: Edcouch-Elsa, Georgetown, The Woodlands, Wylie

Kerry's Pool Picks: Georgetown, Edcouch-Elsa, The Woodlands, Wylie

Jay's Pool Picks: Edcouch-Elsa, The Woodlands, Wylie, Georgetown

POOL J

Baytown Lee

Plano West

Round Rock Stony Point

Weslaco

For those of you up on their 7 on 7 history you know that Baytown Lee is a perennial power and consistent title contender. However this year, Baytown Lee nearly didn't qualify for the tournament this year. Stony Point could be the team to watch, as the Tigers are super-talented and they've got a big time QB who can lead them. Plano West is a bit of unknown, but the Wolves can play with the big boys. The sleeper in this pool could be Weslaco out of the Valley, they've flown under the radar with Edcouch-Elsa taking the attention away from Weslaco.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Round Rock Stony Point, Weslaco, Plano West, Baytown Lee

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Plano West, Weslaco, Baytown Lee, Round Rock Stony Point

Alan's Pool Picks: Plano West, Round Rock Stony Point, Weslaco, Baytown Lee

Kerry's Pool Picks: Baytown Lee, Weslaco, Plano West, Round Rock Stony Point

Jay's Pool Picks: Weslaco, Round Rock Stony Point, Plano West, Baytown Lee

POOL K

Abilene Cooper

College Station A&M Consolidated

Fort Bend Elkins

South Garland

The hometown team could be a sleeper to win the entire tournament, A&M Consolidated is experienced and talented. Another very talented team is Abilene Cooper, but the Cougars haven't been to the State Tournament in a while and they'll have to come out guns blazing especially against South Garland. SGHS has some big time athletes but they struggle on offense and that could be their undoing.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: College Station A&M Consolidated, Abilene Cooper, South Garland, Fort Bend Elkins

Big Matt's Pool Picks: College Station A&M Consolidated, South Garland, Abilene Cooper, Fort Bend Elkins

Alan's Pool Picks: South Garland, Fort Bend Elkins, Abilene Cooper, College Station A&M Consolidated

Kerry's Pool Picks: College Station A&M Consolidated, Fort Bend Elkins, South Garland, Abilene Cooper

Jay's Pool Picks: College Station A&M Consolidated, Abilene Cooper, South Garland, Fort Bend Elkins

POOL L

Brady

Cypress Falls

Richland

Tyler Lee

This might be one of the weaker overall pools in the tournament, as no one really stands out as a title contender. Class 2A Brady leads off. The Bulldogs have some talent but they simply don't have the depth to keep up. Richland has improved every week over the summer and they have a shot to advance to the championship bracket but they'll have to get past either Tyler Lee or Cy Falls, both of which are very athletic and have 7 on 7 experience equal or greater than Richland.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Cy Falls, Tyler Lee, Richland, Brady

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Richland, Tyler Lee, Cy Falls, Brady

Alan's Pool Picks: Tyler Lee, Cy Falls, Richland, Brady

Kerry's Pool Picks: Cy Falls, Tyler Lee, Richland, Brady

Jay's Pool Picks: Cy Falls, Tyler Lee, Richland, Brady

POOL M

Arlington

Cypress Fairbanks

Mercedes

Schertz-Clemens

Can a team making their first trip to the State Tournament be a legit title contender? Well Arlington might be able to make a claim since they won last year's JV State Tournament. Cy Fair is a State Tournament regular, but they don't have as much big name talent as in the past. Mercedes made a good accounting of themselves in last year's State Tournament, and with their unique style of play they'll cause problems. Schertz-Clemens won the Alamo Heights SQT, but not being from a 7 on 7 hotbed they are a relative unknown.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Arlington, Mercedes, Schertz-Clemens, Cy Fair

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Arlington, Mercedes, Cy Fair, Schertz-Clemens

Alan's Pool Picks: Schertz-Clemens, Mercedes, Cy Fair, Arlington

Kerry's Pool Picks: Arlington, Mercedes, Cy Fair, Schertz-Clemens

Jay's Pool Picks: Arlington, Cy Fair, Schertz-Clemens, Mercedes

POOL N

El Paso Del Valle

Garland Naaman Forest

Gregory-Portland

Katy

This pool is an interesting grouping, Naaman Forest has more big name talent than anyone in the pool. However, the Rangers don't have the experience in the State Tournament and that will play a factor. Katy is a powerhouse in the fall and a very good 7 on 7 team but they are extremely young. El Paso Del Valle advanced to the State Tournament in 2005 and made a strong accounting of themselves. Gregory-Portland might be the ultimate sleeper, the Wildcats had a great showing in their one SQT at Hays Consolidated and they could be a team to watch.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Katy, Gregory-Portland, Garland Naaman Forest, El Paso Del Valle

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Katy, Garland Naaman Forest, Gregory-Portland, El Paso Del Valle

Alan's Pool Picks: Katy, Garland Naaman Forest, El Paso Del Valle, Gregory-Portland

Kerry's Pool Picks: Katy, Gregory-Portland, Garland Naaman Forest, El Paso Del Valle

Jay's Pool Picks: Katy, Garland Naaman Forest, Gregory-Portland, El Paso Del Valle

POOL O

Houston Stratford

Plano

Pleasanton

Tomball

The runner-ups from last year's State Tournament didn't even qualify for the State Tournament, but with Alief Hastings dropping out of the State Tournament due to monetary issues Stratford is stepping in. Plano has the potential to make some major noise with their talent. Tomball is another offensive juggernaut and they'll be very tough to beat. Pleasanton made a great run last year in the 3A-Under Division but it remains to be seen what they can do going up against the big schools.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Plano, Tomball, Houston Stratford, Pleasanton

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Plano, Houston Stratford, Pleasanton, Tomball

Alan's Pool Picks: Plano, Pleasanton, Tomball, Houston Stratford

Kerry's Pool Picks: Plano, Tomball, Houston Stratford, Pleasanton

Jay's Pool Picks: Plano, Tomball, Houston Stratford, Pleasanton

POOL P

Arlington Martin

Austin High

Garland

Houston Chavez

This is another pool that should be fun to watch, Garland leads things off. The Owls have a ton of speed and they are starting to gel in summer 7 on 7 play. Austin High is another very dangerous team that is likely going to make a lot of noise. Houston Chavez can't be counted out as they qualified very early in the Manvel SQT. Arlington Martin got in at the last minute but with a win over Southlake Carroll under their belts they won't be intimidated by anyone.

Little Matt's Pool Picks: Austin High, Garland, Houston Chavez, Arlington Martin

Big Matt's Pool Picks: Austin High, Garland, Arlington Martin, Houston Chavez

Alan's Pool Picks: Austin High, Garland, Arlington Martin, Houston Chavez

Kerry's Pool Picks: Austin High, Garland, Houston Chavez, Arlington Martin

Jay's Pool Picks: Austin High, Garland, Houston Chavez, Arlington Martin
