We give you the best and most complete team insider information from around the state - and we do our own in-house recruiting - we are not on the network feed.

Last season was a year of excitement that quickly turned to disappointment for the Kelly Bulldogs. They went a perfect 9-0 during the regular season and never even was challenged until the final game with St. Pius in which Kelly came out on top 18-17. The excitement of a perfect season ended though when the Bulldogs were unexpectedly ousted in the 1st round of the playoffs by Fort Worth Nolan 28-24. Coach Mike Long has 14 total starters back for the 2008 season and should be primed for another district title run and, hopefully, a state run.

Offense

Kelly welcomes back 6 offensive starters from last year's team that averaged 35 points per game. FB Mathew Lighty returns after he rushed for 450 yards and 3 touchdowns on 78 carries in 2007. Also back is WR Sharrod Narcise. Last season Narcise caught 30 passes for 365 yards and 6 touchdowns. Expect him to be one of the top targets in the Bulldogs aerial attack in 2008. The Kelly offensive line will be led by Taylor Meighan and Zach Wortham.

Other Key Players

Lorrenza Patterson (TB)

Roman Vaughn (WR)

Defense

The Bulldogs have 8 starters back on defense in 2008. Last season the ‘Dogs allowed just 15 points per game. Leading the way on defense will be LB Chris Quinn who collected 70 tackles last year. Another key component back is DB Stanleigh Sullivan. Sullivan finished 2007 with 4 interceptions with 1 returned for a touchdown. The D for the Bulldogs should be very tough again in 2008 and will be challenged by the likes of 4A Vidor in non-district and St. Pius twice in district play.
