Iowa Park wasn't helped too much by realignment. They are put in a pretty tough district where every team could be a playoff team. Last season's 4-6 record has been pretty normal - even a couple of years ago when they had a pretty good team, the district schedule was brutal in a 5 team district. This season they only return 7 lettermen and 2 starters on each side of the ball - both players were two way starters.
Probably the best player on the team is Richard Smoak. He leads the team returning in tackles and rushing yards - with 610 yards and 6 touchdowns last season. Jesse Harris is a pretty good quarterback to run the double wing with - and that will be necessary for success this season. Lee Clubb will come in and complement Smoak at running back - but as a sophomore, he will have a learning curve. Chancey Rose and Justin Thacker will lead the defensive line. Dustin Palmer is not a big linebacker but he is a linebacker that has good football smarts and can make plays on the ball.
It is going to be a rough year for Iowa Park this season. I could see as high as a 4th place finish beating out Hirschi and Bridgeport, but that is about the ceiling I see - for me, I think Iowa Park will be a 5th place team this season. They aren't getting any help from the underclass/subvarsity teams and they will have to spend a couple of years rebuilding before they could start reloading. Look for a 3-7 type of season out of Iowa Park this year.
