On offense Midland will lean heavily on speedy RB Darius Miller. Miller who shared duty at TB last year still topped 600 yards and notched four touchdowns. The WR group is led by Antwan Goodley who has major potential, but there is depth as Kendahl Johnson and Addison Kenny are also good targets. The offensive line is led by Robert Montoya who is big and aggressive.
Midland brings five starters back on the defensive side of the ball, the secondary is a major area of concern as all four starters from 2007 graduated. Grant Sykes leads the group this year as he did see significant time in the secondary as a junior. The strength of the defense is with the linebackers as Josh Roberson returns after a second team all 3-5A performance as a junior. The defensive line should be solid as well, sophomore Tyler Tatum has all the tooks to be a great one.
Midland has as much skill talent as anyone in 2-5A save for Odessa Permian, however they have a lot to prove as the Bulldogs struggled in their big games in 2007. Midland is now in a much deeper and tougher district and they'll need their experience to help them get over the hump and into the postseason. The season opener against DeSoto will give an early indication of where the Bulldogs stand.
