Arlington Seguin has a complete makeover this season on the coaching staff, and I am excited to see what they produce. Arlington as a whole is experiencing some of its best football talent in a long time with potentially five high schools out of its 6 making the playoffs this season. Coach Carlos Lynn comes from Cedar Hill and was part of a young energetic squad that turned Cedar Hill around - and he has brought coaches with him that do the same thing where they were coaching. The team returns 13 starters from a very underachieving 1-8 ballclub last season.

Todd Hensley returns at quarterback. He is a good quarterback and likes to run the ball as well. Darian Hogg is the best receiver that they have. A freshmen named Dwain Walker is expected to start - which is a compliment to his abilities. The offensive line will be good but not great - led by Cameron Jordan and Nick Easterwood. Robert Owolyele will provide some speed at running back - and if Scott Hernandez can open some holes for this running back crew - they could put up some big yards.

The defense will be fast and physical - but will they jell as a team? The defensive line will be led by Earlon Neal and Lamar White. The 3-3 stack look allows for Seguin to use a little more of its speed - but the linebackers will be a big part of the offense led by Brandon Love and Larry Conston. The secondary speed will be pretty solid - but the team will be a little undersized. Ciante Evans and Joseph Francis lead the defensive secondary while Jacoby Overstreet and Justin Reeves complement the secondary at the bandit position in the 3-3 stack.

Overall, I do expect the coaching change to pay immediate dividends with potentially a playoff berth in a very tough district. Seguin has always been looked at as a tough team - but they have yet to get that crucial win. Their only playoff success was when they were the big dog in a horrible FWISD district. This year - they will need to step out of the shadows. Games against Legacy, Joshua, and Granbury are definitely winnable so it will likely come down to the game against Crowley to determine if they will make the playoffs. All the experts of the district believe they can - as do I. I think the coaching will be the intangible to land them in fourth place this season - and I think they will put a scare into one of the top three - but I don't think they will knock one off - this season, anyways.
