Port Arthur Memorial Titans

Coach Ronnie Thompson and his Port Arthur Memorial Titans will look to make a return trip to the playoffs in 2008 after a disappointing 4-6 season a year ago. The Titans return 10 total starters from last year's team and Coach Thompson hopes they along with the other 30 returning lettermen will get Memorial back to the postseason. Also With a 7-3 JV squad moving up Coach Thompson is excited about the 08 Titans. "Last season is a year we want to forget about and move on says Thompson".

The weak point of the 2008 Titans appears to be the offense. Just 3 starters are back from last year's team that averaged 24 points per game. The offensive leader for the Titans will be QB Jareal Alexander. In 2007 Alexander started 3 games for Memorial and completed 14 passes for 282 yards and 3 touchdowns while rushing for 385 yards and 5 touchdowns on 80 carries. Also back is TB Daleon Sinette who rushed for 185 yards on 20 carries and 3 touchdowns. The Titans WR corp will be helped out by sophomore K'Sean Wesley. Wesley had a huge season on the freshman team last year by catching 21 touchdowns. If the Titans are going to get back to the Postseason the Offense is going to have to step it up a notch, And if Wide Reciever K'Sean Wesley numbers on the Freshman team (21 TD's) are any indication he'll certainly be a big asset to the Offense. Coach Thompson said the SR's we lost last season is a big concern but with the Athletes we have coming back and if they step up we should be right back in the mix of things come Week 11. Thompson likes the Running back Sinette, "He has very good feet and can explode at any time".

Other Key Players
Solomon Jones (WR)

Coach Thompson feels that his defense this season will be very good with 10 starters back from a 2007 unit that allowed 27 points per game. DE Radermon Scypion is back for 2008 after he had 88 tackles a year ago (9 for a loss) and 5 sacks. "He is a big, physical player and has the potential to become even better says Thompson". The secondary will be led by DB Desmon Gardiner who collected 47 tackles and 4 interceptions in 2007. Also look for the Titan's LB crew to be a talented group led by Junior Earl Hines. Hines was a huge part of the Titan defense last season after gathering 126 tackles (11 for a loss) and 5 sacks. " If we can keep our kids healthy we can certainly play and be where we need to be says Thompson".

Other Key Players
James Levine (DB)
Cody Hebert (DE)
