Tom Bean hasn't quite been itself since the great Buddy Hansen graced Tom Bean with his presence. Last season, the team went 2-8 but they do return 12 starters. They are part of the district where mediocrity is King, so this team if it can put together some continuity and consistency could have a much better season. Tal Sanders is the head coach for the team.
Hunter Hendry leads the team at quarterback. He is their best athlete and very fast. The offensive line will have some size with Keton Parrish, James Sanchez and Marshall Wetzel. The defense will be quicker and stronger this season. Wes Hall will anchor the defensive end position and some good linebackers on the team such as James Burton and Jake Jones should provide stability. Michael Smith and Kyle Carter lead the defensive secondary.
Tom Bean is in the same boat as many of the teams in district 11-2A. They are not going to make the playoffs but they are all fighting to become better. 5 teams in the district have been bad or average consistently over the last couple of years. Tom Bean is a team that has tasted victory but needed an all-state standout to do it. I look for Tom Bean to finish about 6th place - right in the middle of the pack. They'll win a game and lose a game they shouldn't have won and lost - which is the mark of a young team.
