By looking at last year's record at Houston Chavez, it seems like the Lobos are not looking to just make the playoffs. After finishing 6-5 in 2007, the Lobos return 13 players to go along with a newfound confidence.

Leading the way for the Lobos offensively, quarterback Andre Kelly returns after generating over 1,000 yards of offense, which accounted for 15 total touchdowns. Joining him in the backfield will be running back Mark Cole and fullback Nelson Udeh. Cole (who had nine catches for 120 yards) rushed for 863 yards and seven touchdowns while Udeh had one score to go along with his 147 yards.

Out of the multiple spread offense, Kelly has several options to deliver to with Charles Allison, Theo Bailey, tight end Traymond Brown all in the rotation. This trio finished the year with six total touchdowns.

Defensively one of the state's top defensive ends returns in Mike Brockers (LSU commit). On the other side of Brockers will be Dillon Smith. At the linebacker positions, James Johnson and Brenton Jones will handle the run support.

In the secondary, Roland Veal leads a solid group, which includes Chris Porter and newcomer Tim Gay. Veal finished the year with four interceptions while Porter pulled down three.
