Last season, Dallas Adamson had a breakout season - going 5-0 before losing 4 of the last 5 games. This season, they return 14 starters. In all reality - the biggest change has been coaching, coaching, coaching - the players are buying into the system and the coaches are getting the best out of the kids. Can they do it again - or was Adamson a one hit wonder?
Victor Garcia is a talented junior Quarterback. Nickholes Valentine will be taking a majority of the snaps at running back. A lot of the receivers will go both ways with Kory Morrow, Eric Toney and Arthur Smith getting a majority of the time at wide receiver. The offensive line is big but not very fast. Joseph Pelton and Chris Ruiz lead the offensive line.
The defense will be speedy at areas but not very big. Sophomore Chris Auld is expected to make an impact on the defensive line with Kavaughn Williams. The linebackers will be a bit of linebacker by committee. The secondary is what will hold the team together. The best player on the team is Roderick Goodlow and he is a top tier free safety. He will also provide good senior leadership to the team.
If Adamson was in 12-4A, they could get as high as third and pretty much punch their playoff ticket right now. Being in the other district, they have too many tiers to get past. Carter, Kimball and SOC are going to get the top three spots - and Adamson will have to prove it can get past Pinkston or Seagoville - which it couldn't prove last year. I don't like their chances this year either. I think Adamson will be a little bit down and be lucky to hit the .500 mark.
