Texasprepinsider previews all the teams in the state, not just the top 25 teams but we preview all the teams in the Houston, DFW and other areas of the state. Cleveland Indians

The Cleveland Indians had a huge turnaround season last year after a horrible 2006 season in which they finished 1-8. The 2007 season saw the Indians finish with a playoff appearance, a 4-7 overall record, and 1 win away from a district championship. Cleveland returns 16 total starters this year and many have them favored to win the district title and make a solid playoff run. The Indians have had some bad years the past few seasons But Coach Tullos says it's time to turn it around. On both sides of the ball the Indians have ATHLETES for 08 and this has the staff in Cleveland excited.

Offense

Cleveland returns 9 offensive starters from last year's team that averaged 17 points per game. The Indian's rushing attack will be spear headed by RB Benny Wright and RB Jamaul Gibson. Opening the holes will be a strong offensive line led by Richard Pillot. QB Earnest Carrington will call the signals from under center in 2008 for the Indians. Wright and Gibson will lead this Offense along with an experienced Offensive Line. Both Running Backs are quick and have very good vision and feet along with breakaway speed. The passing game should also be inproved with Quarterback Earnest Carrington. The Indians will be young at the Reciever position but with a great Offseason this position shouldn't be a problem either. Lineman Pillot is one of the top Lineman in the area and alot of people feel like is one of the best in the region.

Other Key Players
Cedric Reed (TE)

Defense

The Indians welcome back 7 defensive starters from last year's unit that allowed 28 points per game. LB Steven Robertson will lead the defensive attack and will be joined at LB by Marcus Mallet. Leading the Indian secondary will be SS Brent Chapman. I like the looks of this Defense and i can see why the Indians are picked to win 22 3A. Robertson is a huge leader on Defense and looks even stronger this season. SS Chapman and Linebacker Marcus Mallet are of the best Defensive Players in the District. The only weakness on Defense for the Indians may be on the Defensive Line but even here 3 starters return. This Defense could be one of the hardest hitting Defenses in the area and they always are on the ball. Speed on Defense isn't lacking either. I see no reason why this team can't win this District.
