Coldspring Trojans

The 1990's was a very good decade for the Coldspring Trojans football program. In 1992 the Trojans made it to the 3A State Championship, in 1993 they went to the Regional Quarterfinals, and in 1996 they went to the Regional Semifinals. Coldspring has still been making playoff appearances this decade but they have been short lived runs. Last year they finished 5-6 and ended up losing to WO-S in the Bi-District round. Coldspring returns 13 total starters in 2008 and should be a playoff contender once again. With a Coach with the last name Barbay you know a good coach is in place.

Coldspring returns 8 offensive starters from last year's team that averaged 32 points per game. QB Chad Allen returns after completing 26 passes for 620 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2007. His main target will be WR Ashton Perry. Perry caught 8 passes for 146 yards last season. Leading the ground game for the Trojans will be RB James Scott. Scott rushed for 520 yards and 3 touchdowns on 60 carries last year. Scott has great breakaway speed. I could see Coldspring winning this District with the Athletes that are returning. The Trojans look strong at most positions on Offense including the Offensive Line. Josh McKinney and Jarmar Brooks are two of the top Lineman in the District.

Other Key Players
Jamar Brooks (OL)

The Trojans welcome back 5 defensive starters from last year's unit that allowed 30 points per game. Leading the defensive charge will be OLB Undra Holman. Expect coach Barbay's defense to be a very smart group that will be one of the top defenses in the district in 2008. James Scott will also play some Linebacker on Defense. "We're going to be stronger and faster than last season says Barbay". Keep these kids healthy and i'll say it again Coldspring could win this District. I see a few possible D1 Players on the team and this could carry this Defense along way.
