Dayton Broncos

The Dayton Broncos made their deepest playoff run in school history last year, advancing all the way to the state semifinals where they fell to Lake Travis 49-13. Realignment moved them back into the Houston area 19-4A district and with the help of 12 returning starters many have them favored to win the district and once again make a deep playoff run in 2008. A few Players were released from the Defense and this could affect the Broncos as the season goes on especally in the Defense Department. Dayton is loaded on both sides of the ball especially on Offense. A strong JV squad last year will also help out this season.

The Broncos welcome back 6 offensive starters from last year's team that averaged 33 points per game. QB Cody Green makes his return after missing the 2007 season due to injury and will look to make an immediate impact in 2008. A.J. Dugat is back as well after he had a monster 2007 season. Dugat was an all-purpose star last year as he caught 72 passes for 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns, rushed 94 times for 536 yards and 7 touchdowns and he also completed 28 passes for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns. He will definitely be Dayton's go to guy again in 2008. Returning D1 talent should carry this Offense along way again this season. Dugat just recently changed his commit to the University Of Houston. Looking at the talent again this year on Offense i can see why the Broncos are predicted to go to the D1 4A State Championship.

Other Key Players
Tony Hill (OL)

6 starters are also back for Dayton on defense from a 2007 unit that was one of the toughest in the state, allowing just 12 points per game. The LB position will be the strong point of the Bronco defense. Leading the way there will be Fred Hynson who had 102 tackles last season and Evan Brown. Also look for big things from DT Aaron Jenkins on the D line. The Dayton defense should be as good or better than last year, a scary thought for their 19-4A opponents. A big question mark will continue on the Defensive side of the bal as Coach Stewart released a few players from the squad. This Defense looks to have some depth to help with the Bronco run this season.
