Plenty of players graduated for the Houston Stratford football team, but five starters remain as the Spartans line up to make another run in 2008. So what can Spartans fans expect this season? Check out TexasPrepInsider as we highlight your favorite teams in Texas with our previews.

Last season, the Houston Stratford football team made a nice run in the playoffs and finished 9-4. Now, in 2008 the Spartans bring back five (3 OFF, 2 DEF) starters after losing 61 letterman to graduation. But best believe coach Eliot Allen will likely find players to fill all of the voids.

For starters, the Spartans' top returning playmaker Rodney Anderson is back. As a junior, Anderson was an all-purpose back who generated 2,182 yards of offense. Look for that momentum to spark the offense. Joining Anderson in the backfield Tim Graves and Todd Ten Have, both of who should get touches.

At wide receiver, look for Brett Benninger to be the go-to guy. Benninger had 13 catches and a touchdown as a sophomore. Lineman Michael Gibson will lead the guys in the trenches. Andrew Mitchell and Mark Benninger are the two quarterbacks for the Spartans.

On defense, headlining the corp is defensive end Terrance Lloyd, who finished with 95 tackles and eight sacks. In the secondary, Jackie Simmons, who ended up with 46 tackles and interception, leads the group. Also look for Jerry Young, Roland Rodriguez, and Derwin Amboree defending the pass in the backfield.

Stratford was No. 2 in the district last season in total offense with 385.5 yards a game.
