2008 Team Insider: Katy Seven Lakes Spartans

New challenges lie ahead for the Katy Seven Lakes football team as they move on up to 5A football. But no worries because coach Kevin O'Keefe has 10 starters from last year's team and many in the community say this is the Spartans' year to make a statement. So who will line up or Seven lakes? Check out TexasPrepInsider as we highlight your favorite teams in Texas with our previews.

No more 4A ball for the Katy Seven Lakes football team as the last realignment has the entire District 17-5A comprised of Katy ISD teams. This will mark the first year that the Spartans will play on this level and they go into battle with 10 (5 OFF, 5 DEF) returning starters from last year's 1-9 team.

On offense, the Spartans' chosen leader, Dalton Livingston, returns. Livingston threw for 1,551 yards and 11 touchdowns, and also had five rushing touchdowns. He will have plenty of options to throw to, as the Spartan wide receiver corp is one of the states best.

Headlining the group of wide outs is Anthony Kendrick (Kentucky commit). Kendrick had 40 catches for 689 yards and three touchdowns. Christian Duda (16 catches, two touchdowns) and Steve McCormack (30 catches, six touchdowns) will also get their fair share of touches.

Look for Dominique Harris to be the Spartans' workhorse while tackle Devin Shaw is leader on the line.

Defensively, the Spartans are equally strong and will likely look to linebacker Zach Voss to bring the pain along with Brad Snowden. Up front, Jacob Solaita and Brett Huey return. In the secondary, Lyle Beloney and Clay Almeida will hold things down in the defensive backfield.
