East Chambers Buccaneers

All the East Chambers Buccaneers have come to know is success. The Bucs are one of the 2A powers in Southeast Texas and have been to the playoffs for 13 straight years. In that span the worst season that they have had was a 5-5 year in 2002. Coach Tony Valastro's Bucs return 11 total starters from last year's 9-2 playoff team that will try to make it 14 straight playoff appearances in 2008.

Offense

East Chambers lost all-star QB Tramain Thomas to graduation but they do return 7 offensive starters from last year's team that averaged 34 points per game. Shifty RB Dante Raymond returns after rushing for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries last year. Also back is 2nd team all-district OL Tanner Mazzola to help open the holes for Raymond. Others helping out on the OL are Dylan Kramer, Arick Hartman and Daniel Renner.

Defense

The Bucs have 4 starters back on defense for the 2008 season. Last year the EC defense allowed 15 points per game. LB Alfredo Valezquez returns to lead the defense after he recorded 99 tackles in 2007. Also back is 2nd team all-district safety Josh Adamson. The top guys in the EC secondary will be CB Anthony Ortiz and CB James Green.

East Chambers opens the 2008 season in Week 0 with a road game at Orangefield. In Week 1 the Bucs will have their home opener against the Newton Eagles. They will also have non-district games against 21-3A members Hamshire-Fannett and Hardin-Jefferson. They will open 23-2A play on September 26 at home against Buna.
