In 2007, the Houston Wheately football team was one win away from making the playoffs. That alone has probably pumped the Wildcats organization up to come out in 2008 fired up. They will line up this year with 12 returning starters.

Offensively, the Wildcats return their leading returning rusher with Javari Liggins in the backfield. Liggins rushed for 492 yards and eight touchdowns. Also look for newcomer Tyrone Cooper to get some touches.

At quarterback, Eddie Williams is back after throwing for 535 yards and three touchdowns despite limited field time.

On defense, look for the Wildcats to be strong with Justin Rochon leading the way. Rochon had 56 tackles and four sacks as a junior. At linebacker, Michael Woods is their best run stopper after a 42-tackle performance last year. Traveon Kelly is the leader of the defensive backs. He had three interceptions last season.

Wheately had the No. 1 defense last year giving up an average of 260.7 yards per game.
