Even though the cupboard is a little empty over at Alief Elsik, coach Bill Barron will welcome back three starters from last year's squad. The Rams, though the record (4-7) may not show, made a strong late-season push to make a trip to the playoffs in 2007.

Look for plenty of new faces on the Rams' team. The strength of the team lies in the experience of two of the offensive linemen. For starters, Emone Bailey is the leader of the guys up front. Emmanuel Olorunyomi, Michael Tate, and Brandon Johnson also return.

Look for a newcomer at the quarterback position with Kurt Lambert taking the reins. Elsik is know for putting together a strong rushing game and running back Woodrow Turner will likely be the team's workhorse.

On defense, the Rams have no starting players returning, so look for fresh faces at every position. At linebacker, Elsik has C.J. Garley, Marcus Johnson, Danny Brownell, and Brandon Brignac to choose from. In the secondary, Ricky Bass and Brandon Johnson return.

Elsik will play in the same district (18-5A), but with new teams. The addition of Spring Branch ISD and Strake Jesuit may be a different pace then what the Rams are used to. Last season, Elsik was No. 2 in the district in the total offense category with 345.4 yards per game average. But were last in defense giving up 403.7 yards a game.
