There will be plenty of reloading going on at Katy, but history has proven that the Tigers can endure. They return only six starters from last year's team that went undefeated beating Pflugerville for the 5A Division II state championship title.

On offense, quarterback Parker Ray will take over as signal caller. Joining him in the backfield will be running back Michael Webber, who has over 400 yards to his credit. Developing talent young is a forte at Katy so look for newcomer Vernon Jeffries to get some touches also.

Ray will likely look to wide receiver Sebi Carbajal to be his primary target. Those two hooked up quite a bit this past summer in the 7-on-7 circuit. Providing the protection will be returning linemen Austin Sumrall and Cameron Travis.

Defensively, end Micah Marks is one to keep an eye on. Marks racked up 50 tackles last season. In the backfield, Sam Holl (converted from linebacker) will play one of the safety positions and will be joined by Andrew Harrell. Up front, look for tackle Elvin Tapong to hold things down.

Kicker Raul Balbuena returns after successfully making 10 field goals last season.

This season Katy has a very challenging preseason schedule that includes North Shore, Beaumont Westbrook, and Cypress Bay (Florida). With Seven Lakes turning in 5A numbers this past year during realignment, the Katy ISD has its own district with six teams.
