Recruiting District 19-5A: Gridiron Top Dogs has returned for the 2008 football season and we want to make sure and provide you with the best coverage in the state. Today we are going to give you a glimpse of some the district's top players. While this would usually be premium content, we will get you started with this material for free.

Offensive MVP: Curtis McGregor, RB, Aldine Eisenhower
There are so many stellar athletes in this district (majority of them are his teammates), but McGregor stands out to me. McGregor rushed for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 32 passes for 642 yards and another seven touchdowns. He also had significant yards on special teams as a return specialist.

McGregor will account for 2,000 all-purpose yards this season. He also doubles on defense and is a hot commodity to several Division I programs.

Other major offensive players
Zerick Rollins, QB, Aldine Nimitz
Kenneth Guiton, QB, Aldine Eisenhower
Travis Swanson, OL, Kingwood
Quentin Parks, WR, Humble Atascocita
Greg Timmons, WR, Aldine Eisenhower
Keith Baker, QB, Humble
Marion Grice, RB, Aldine Nimitz
Jaz Reynolds, WR, Aldine Eisenhower

Clyde Green, WR, Aldine

Defensive MVP: Craig Loston, DB, Aldine Eisenhower
The state's 5A cover boy is back and will complete his full high school career as a starter. As far as skilled positions are concerned, there is not much Loston cannot do (including punt). On defense, he finished with 80 tackles and four interceptions. Opposing teams will likely scout the Eagles and try to run away from him.

Loston is an early commit to Clemson, but word is that he is checking out a few other options.

Other major defensive players
Lamarc Strahan, DL, Humble
Tavon Bolden, DB, Aldine
Robert Singletary, DE, Kingwood
Craig Graves, LB, Aldine Macarthur

Allen Veazie, DB, Aldine Eisenhower
