Week 1: 20-5A Match ups

Thursday Night games
Houston Madison vs. Fort Bend Willowridge
Even though Madison lost its season opener last week, the Marlins faced a tough Pearland team. What fans at Reliant did see was good spark in the offense. Look for the Marlins to carry that momentum into this game against Willowridge team that plays 5A ball with 4A enrollment. The Marlins will get win No. 1.

Houston Chavez vs. Houston Sharpstown
It is pretty obvious that Sharpstown is playing a tough preseason schedule to be ready for district play in a few weeks. But it will be no easy task going against a tough Chavez team. The Lobos are led by quarterback Andre Kelly and put up 47 points last week. The Apollos will put up more of a fight than Jones, but in the end, Chavez wins.

Friday Night games
Houston Lamar vs. Fort Bend Marshall
Lamar is coming off a win from last week while Marshall opens up in Week 1. Even though the Buffaloes have a talented team and a strong running game led by Knile Davis, the Redskins' defense may be too tough for the small (numbers) Marshall team to handle. Look for Davis to have a good game and watch for a nice match up between Toney Hurd and Josh Gordon. Should be a good game, but Lamar wins.

Houston Milby vs. Houston Northbrook
Milby dropped its first game last week to Reagan, so look for the Buffaloes to come out fired up. Of course losing big to a 4A team is probably not what they had in mind. They are going against and up-and-coming Northbrook program that earned three wins last year. The Raiders' Derrick Rainey powers the way so look for a big performance from him and a win for Northbrook.

Houston Westside vs. El Campo
This game may turn out better than expected, as El Campo seems to be playing some tough football these days. Not to say that Westside is unable of handling itself, as the Wolves placed a nice beat down on Sharpstown last week. Look for the two running backs, Maverick Smith (El Campo) and Frank Williams (Westside) to each have 100+ yard games. This will stay close through three quarters and then Westside pulls away.

Saturday Night games
Houston Bellaire vs. Houston Washington
After a hard loss to Alief Taylor last week, look for Bellaire to bounce back and pull out a win this week against Washington. Adrian Nelson and Eric Deveaux are both going to have strong performances while the Eagles will try and find ways to move the ball. The Cardinals roll.
