Franklin's Huge Day Paces Everman

Everman's Chris Franklin had 60 yards rushing and a score and he also had 96 yards receiving and two touchdowns in Everman's 42-14 win over Wichita Falls on Saturday.

WICHITA FALLS- After a slow start on the offensive side of the ball last week, the Everman Bulldogs (2-0) got their ground game untracked in a 42-14 win over the Wichita Falls Coyotes (1-1) at Memorial Stadium. Everman ran for 335 yards using seven different ball carriers and the Bulldog defense was stellar holding Old High to 33 rushing yards despite missing their two key defensive ends.

Everman jumped on Wichita Falls quickly as after forcing a Coyote punt, the Bulldogs scored quickly as Chris Franklin picked his way through the Old High defense scoring on a 36 yard run. Everman used the swinging gate and QB Marcus MacAdoo ran in the two point try and the Bulldogs held an early 8-0 lead. After forcing a Wichita Falls punt, Everman was right back at it marching down the field with relative ease. Ryan Smith capped an impressive march with an 11 yard run to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead as the two point pass failed.

Everman got a gift last in the first quarter as WFHS brought in backup QB T.J. Anderson and he immediately was picked off by Sam Birdine and it was returned 17 yards to the 23. On the next play McAdoo hooked up with Franklin for a 23 yard scoring toss to give the Bulldogs a commanding 21-0 lead.

The second quarter featured a stunning turn as the Coyotes for the most totally dominated play. Wichita Falls went on a nice scoring drive paced by some solid running by Tehvin Lucky and Ben Henderson capped the drive with a two yard run and it was 21-7 Everman. EHS then gave WFHS a gift as DL Darius Anderson recovered a Smith fumble and the Coyotes were in business. Henderson would find his favorite receiver Antwone Moore for a 43 yard touchdown pass a short time later and all of a sudden momentum had swung and the lead was cut to 21-14 and that would be the halftime score as neither team managed much offense in the second half.

As much as Wichita Falls dominated the second quarter, Everman totally dominated the entire second half outscoring WFHS 21-0. Everman took the opening kickoff and immediately asserted their will on the Coyotes defense as they moved 80 yards all on the ground with the march capped by McAdoo's 20 yard touchdown run to make it 28-14. Everman would then put the game away with Franklin scoring his third touchdown on a 76 yard catch and run to make it 35-14 late in the third. In the fourth quarter Everman's Devin Woods added a 13 yard run to account for the final tally of 42-14.

Next Thursday Everman takes on Fort Worth Southwest, while on Friday night Wichita Falls will host Denison.
