District 17-5A: Week 2 Predictions

TexasPrepInsider.com has returned for the 2008 football season and we are bringing back our weekly predictions of you favorite teams. Check out who we feel will come away with a win this week. And best of all, you can enjoy this content for free.

Thursday night games
Katy Cinco Ranch vs. Cy Ridge
Cinco Ranch is on a roll with a 2-0 record while Cy Ridge is sitting at 1-1. And though this match up is usually a good game (and it still will be), the Rams are slightly favored. There is too much speed and quickness on the Rams' offense. It will be interesting to see what may be the final face off between Shane Ros and Russell Shepard. Either way, this one will be close, but not too close. Rams win.

Friday night games
Katy Seven Lakes vs. Foster
After the loss to Mayde Creek last week, the Foster team will look to rebound against the new 5A Seven Lakes team. This has the potential to be a great game, as both teams seem to match up fairly well. But the Spartans have the edge in depth (they should which is why they are 5A) and talent. Look for this game to be exciting. But in the end, I think the Spartans extend their win streak to 2-0.

Katy Taylor vs. Rosenberg Terry
While Terry blasted Waller last week, Taylor was on the West side of town doing the same thing to Fort Bend Austin. In this one, I would have to say that the Mustangs are likely to come out on top. Terry will put up some points, but not enough as Taylor rolls.

Saturday night games
Katy Mayde Creek vs. Alief Taylor

This is the game of undefeated teams as both team have 2-0 records. But clearly the better team here is Mayde Creek. The Rams are averaging 434 yards a game behind quarterback Vaughn Miller who has completed 77 percent of his passes so far. Look for Miller and the Lions' Rodney Owens to go at it. Miller by air and Owens by ground. It will be nice to watch, but the Rams pull out a win.

Katy Morton Ranch vs. Langham Creek
The Mavericks will face off against a pass-happy Lobo offense. With that said, the Morton Ranch secondary will likely be tested for the full 48 minutes. But these Mavericks have a potent offense as well with Joe Mitchell and Michael Vinson leading the way. I think this one will be close for one half and then the Mavericks pull away with a win.
