Franklin's Four TD's Pace Everman Rout

Everman's Chris Franklin accounted for 182 total yards and scored four first half touchdowns as Everman drilled Fort Worth Southwest 48-6 on Thursday night.

FORT WORTH- Chris Franklin accounted for 182 total yards and four touchdowns as the Everman Bulldogs (3-0) routed the Fort Worth Southwest Raiders (2-1) 48-6 Thursday night at Clark Stadium. Everman's offense rolled up 329 yards rushing and took advantage of three Southwest turnovers to turn what was a close game early in the second quarter into a rout. In the second quarter Everman out scored Southwest 34-6.

After being forced to punt on their first possession Everman's offense got a short field as Keith Rushton partially blocked a Cesar Escobar punt to set up the Bulldogs with a short field. Franklin would score his first touchdown of the game on a 42 yard run to put EHS up 7-0. Southwest put together a nice drive on the ensuing possession but DB Sam Birdine picked off a Jason Dillon pass in the end zone to end the Raiders threat late in the first quarter.

Everman early in the second quarter would move 80 yards after the interception and the Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead as Franklin hauled in a 39 yard touchdown pass from Marcus McAdoo. Southwest's defense would stop Everman on their next drive, however the Raiders muffed the punt and set EHS up with the ball at the Southwest 21. Devin Woods would score on a 19 yard run two plays later and the rout was on as Everman led 20-0. The turnover bug hit Southwest again on their first play of the next series as DE Dejuan Lee nailed Dillion and Deantre Harland jumped on the loose ball at the Southwest 18. Franklin got his third touchdown of the half scoring from four yards out to put EHS up 27-0 but the Bulldogs were far from finished. After forcing a quick three and out Harlan would get in on the act on offense scoring on a 23 yard touchdown catch from McAdoo and it was 34-0 Everman. Southwest managed to put together a nice drive right before the half and it paid off with their only score of the night as Dillon hit James Hall for a six yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 34-6. However the Raiders left Everman too much time on the clock and the Bulldogs would march right back down the field with Franklin scoring his fourth touchdown of the half on a 17 yard touchdown catch from McAdoo and at the half Everman held a comfortable 41-6 lead.

The second half featured lots of backups for both sides and lots of running the ball, Everman did miss a field goal early in the third but they did score one more time as junior FB Ruben Fletcher scored on a 10 yard run for the final tally of 48-6. Next week Everman is idle, while Fort Worth Southwest visits Class 3A Kennedale.
