A Trojan Ambush

Trinity used a balanced offensive attack and a suffocating defense in a 37-14 rout of the Cedar Hill Longhorns on Friday night at Longhorn Stadium.

CEDAR HILL- In a matchup featuring two unbeatens and two teams who have combined for three state championships in the past three years, the Euless Trinity Trojans (2-0) asserted their dominance in a 37-14 rout of the Cedar Hill Longhorns (2-1) on Friday night at Longhorn Stadium. Trinity's defense came out on a mission and it showed as they completely shut down the speedy Cedar Hill offense holding the Longhorns to 189 yards and many of those yard came in the fourth quarter against the Trinity second teamers.

Trinity went back to the ground game to lead the way as the Trojans rushed for 249 yards and at times made it look easy, using eight different ball carriers. However, they also had some serious balance as QB Denarius McGee threw for 191 yards as well.

Early on it appeared the game would be a barn burner as Trinity's Bobby Brown hauled in a 63 yard touchdown pass from McGee which gave the Trojans a 7-0 lead. Cedar Hill responded with a tremendous 32 yard touchdown run by sophomore QB Driphus Jackson to tie things up at seven. That score seemed to wake up the sleeping giant that is Trinity as the Trojans put together an impressive march mixing run and pass to take a 14-7 lead as Dontrayevous Robinson scored on a three yard run. After DE Sioeli Pauni recovered a Jackson fumble, the Trojans extended the lead to 17-7 as Isaac Arellano nailed a 22 yard field goal. Trinity added one more score right before the half as sophomore TB Tevin Williams scored on an impressive 24 yard jaunt and it was 23-7 at the half as the PAT failed.

Trinity ended any hopes of a Cedar Hill comeback as they opened the second half with a back breaking nine play 86 yard march ending with junior RB Damien Hart's seven yard run and the lead was 30-7. After forcing a three and out the Trojans made it 37-7 as Williams notched his second touchdown run of the night with a four yard run.

Cedar Hill did show some pride late as they stopped Trinity on downs in the fourth quarter at the one yard line, and then the Longhorns added a late score as Keenan Walker scored on a 22 yard run for the final tally of 37-14.
